Dev Conference

Join us for a day full of dev talks across all levels of expertise that are focused around problem solving and innovative solutions.

This year, Technical.ly's Dev Conference is taking over Drexel University's LeBow College of Business. There will be three different rooms each with an individual industry focus. You’ll have the opportunity to learn from Philly CTO’s, programmers, and luminaries in our local tech organizations that are making a direct impact in our city.

Whether you want to hear a talk about the new in-demand back-end framework, do a deep-dive on JavaScript, hear a talk on the future of cloud applications, or maybe you're dying to listen to one of our great speakers, you will have the opportunity to build your schedule, "choose your own adventure-style" throughout the day to have the best experience possible.

React Workshop (9:00PM - 12:00PM):

Description: From 9:00am to 12:00pm, Chariot's Ken Rimple has a fun workshop in store for you. He'll bring a GraphQL server Quizzo-style application, and you'll create a front-end for it in React. Along the way you'll learn how React components work, how you can build components functionally with hooks, interface with GraphQL and issue GQL queries, subscribe to game play messages, and answer questions to play the game. At the end, if all goes well, everyone can point their clients to Ken's server and play the game together.

  • To secure your spot for the workshop, you must purchase the "All Access Pass" that grants you access in to the workshop room. Hurry, because spots are limited!

  • Please make sure to come with your laptop fully charged.

Prerequisites: This session is geared to the absolute React beginner. We'll assume you have a bit of JavaScript under your belt, and are a seasoned .NET or Java programmer besides. All you need to do is install the Long-Term support version of Node.Js and have joined conference WIFI and you're all set. We'll take it from there together.
