Philly Tech Week is a week-long celebration of technology and innovation happening throughout the Greater Philadelphia region. There’s something for everyone! The 9th Annual Philly Tech Week took place May 3 - 11, 2019.

Track Conferences

Philly Tech Week is organized into 7 different tracks (Creative, Access, Dev, Civic, Business, Media and Sciences). You can search for events that match your interests by clicking on one of the track icons.

Christina Mattison

Christina Mattison is the founding President and CEO of Mattison Advisors, a philanthropy management firm offering innovative solutions to maximize your charitable giving, brand, engagement and impact through strategic philanthropy.

Prior to founding Mattison Advisors, Christina served as a senior vice president at Virtua Health Foundation and the Virtua Foundation Board. Christina secured philanthropic support for Virtua's programs and services raining millions for patient care, research and community initiatives. Christina's disciplined approach to philanthropy stems from over 15 years of experience in the nonprofit and for-profit sectors, where she served in leadership and executives roles, gaining a high level of expertise in strategy, performance, fundraising and the business of giving.

Christina was named a Philadelphia Business Journal Minority Business Leader Award honoree in 2017 and is a member of the NJBiz Forty Under 40 class of 2016. She serves as a board member for Hopeworks 'N Camden, a nonprofit that focuses on education, technology and entrepreneurship to partner with young men and women as they identify and ear a sustainable future. Christina is a lead facilitator for the University of Pennsylvania DiverseForce on Boards program, a training curriculum focused on board leadership for mid-to-senior level professionals of color. Christina is also an active volunteer with the Junior Achievement of New Jersey's Women's Future Leadership Forum.

As President and CEO of Mattisons Advisors, Christina's objective is to serve as a strategic partner to bring your vision to life, helping you do well by doing good.

Michelai Graham Technically

Michelai Graham is a creative investigative and multimedia reporter. She completed her M.A. in journalism and public affairs with an investigative journalism focus in July 2018. Prior to graduate school, Michelai acquired a B.A. in journalism and a B.A. in media & information from Michigan State University, where she served as co-writer during a study abroad program to India. She also serves as the chapter journalist for the Washington DC Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., where she is also an active member.

Ben Greene is a regional technical leader at Snowflake. His background is in the design, development, implementation of distributed / multi-tiered software infrastructure for data warehousing & analytics, machine learning, enterprise search, and unstructured data analytics related to text, video, video, imagery and audio.

Brian Orrell

Mr. Brian Orrell has more than 25 years of technology consulting experience in a variety of industries and technologies. His emphasis is on the delivery of enterprise solutions. His areas of expertise include designing, developing and maintaining distributed systems, mobility, cloud platforms and artificial intelligence.

Mr. Orrell has led large-scale development engagements for large utility companies, airlines, educational organizations, shipping companies and non-profit organizations. His technical experience has led to multiple speaking engagements regarding the management of large-scale development projects and custom software development. Mr. Orrell has also taught courses on development methodology, design and systems thinking.

Mr. Orrell has served at BSG Alliance IT and has served in leadership positions at Southwest Airlines, Tactica Technology Group and Hitachi Consulting. His leadership experience includes managing teams to deliver: online bill pay services for a large utility; a scheduling and tracking system for a large airline; an online educational testing system for states; a supply-chain tracking and routing system for one of the largest logistics companies in the world.

In his role as CTO at Pariveda Solutions, he focuses on the emerging technologies that will provide strategic value for Pariveda and its clients.

Ernesto is the Founder of Ombu Labs, Philadelphia’s lean software development shop specializing in Rails and React. He has been leading remote teams since 2009. He is passionate about working remotely, launching minimal products, coaching entrepreneurs, contributing to open source, and eating empanadas.

Devetta James

With over 20 years of experience in healthcare operations, Devetta James offers a unique blend of leadership, vision and knowledge. She is the Senior Vice President of Customer Operations for AmerisourceBergen and her vision is to provide exceptional experiences through integrated service and support. Devetta has been with AmerisourceBergen since 2006 and has a passion for connecting people, process and technology. Devetta currently leads the customer service, customer integration and data management, customer system support, business enablement, and commercial analytics teams. In addition to her role as an leader, Devetta is one of the founding members of the Black Leadership Council and is active within the Diversity and Inclusion and Women in Network Committees at AmerisourceBergen. She is on the board of Imagine Well, a non-profit organization whose goal is to educate and empower its clients in their respective fields to refine their focus and production output within the community.

Devetta holds a Master of Science in training and development from Amberton University and a Bachelor of Science in business.administration from Northwood University. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, family and friends, catching a good movie and listening to great music.

Liz Brown

Liz is a proud generalist committed to utilizing her interdisciplinary skillset as an urban planner, experience designer, and technologist to bridge gaps and highlight the importance of inclusion within innovation ecosystems. Recently she was named Managing Director at Backstage Philadelphia, an arm of Backstage Capital, a venture capital investment firm that invests in underrepresented founders. Additionally, Liz is the cofounder of BCKG, a think tank and consultancy that provides thought leadership and curated experiences to support leadership, growth, and momentum for startups.

Prior to launching BCKG, she cofounded and served as Co-CEO & Head of Design at Webjunto, a user experience focused design and software development agency that served 100+ startups and enterprises globally. In her free time, Liz continues to do work in the community as a civic hacking enthusiast, meetup organizer, and globetrotting public speaker.

Phil Charron

Phil is Think Company's Executive Vice President, overseeing organizational strategy, design processes, knowledge management, and consulting on new business opportunities. He was hired as Think Company's second employee in 2008. Phil has been consulting, teaching, and writing about innovation, design, and technology since 1992. He has led consultative design teams across many industries including Life Science, Finance, Consulting, Retail, Healthcare, and Big Data. Additionally, Phil was an adjunct faculty member for the Digital Design program at Jefferson University (formerly Philadelphia University) from 1995-2014 and led experience design for the team that won the Qualcomm Tricorder XPRIZE in 2017.
